What we can do for environmental problems

Shikada Sangyo, which splits natural bamboo into thin strips and weaves them into fabric,
celebrates its 110th anniversary.

 We will disseminate the charm of natural materials that have a low burden on the world’s
common environmental problems.

 Bamboo is a fast-growing plant with high strength and resilience.

 The woven bamboo fabric (SHIKADA WOVEN) has some fire-retardant certifications so
that it can be used in commercial facilities.

Salone del Mobile The 60th Edition ” Design with Nature “


The 60th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano was held from 7 to 12 June 2022. A Topic of sustainability was raised by architect Mario Cucinella who had developed a project (Design with Nature) which raised awareness of how to create an eco-friendly product allowing us to live in harmony with nature instead of continuing to consume limited resources relentlessly. Sustainable materials such as fish scale, mango, bamboo, cotton, cork were introduced. Shikada Sangyo’s product was chosen to represent the bamboo material.

Shikada Sangyo will continue making product made of natural bamboo material to create a future where we can sustainably coexist with nature.

Architects and designers, when taking on a new project, in addition to price, appearance, and durability, it is important to take in environment-friendly aspect into consideration.

– 40 meters in length of a textile by weaving 22000 rods

A Japanese restaurant has reopened in a compact town surrounded by nature in the United States.

In November 2016, the Japanese restaurant “Chef Naoko” in Portland, Oregon, USA was reopened.Surrounded by nature, Portland is a city where you can feel the atmosphere of Japan.Our SHIKADA WOVEN are installed in the interior of “Shizuku by chef Naoko”

Kengo Kuma and Associates Design proposes a new way to use bamboo blinds.

It was designed by Kengo Kuma Architects. SHIKADA WOVEN create a circle and create a soft space.
