SHIKADA SANGYO offers SHIKADA WOVEN, traditional Japanese woven bamboo, globally as an interior decorating material. SHIKADA WOVEN, made by weaving thin strips of bamboo together, is called sudare in Japan. It can be used to create both beautiful curves and sharp lines. Decorations leveraging its maximum dimensions can also be used to create dynamic spaces. In addition to this, SHIKADA WOVEN can also be used to produce elegant spaces because it allows air and light to pass through.

Natural woven bamboo as an interior decorating material
SHIKADA WOVEN material can be made in two ways. It can be made traditionally by manually pressing each individual thin bamboo strip using a foot loom so as to match the sizes of each bamboo Node, or it can be made into a standard material in which thin bamboo strips and flat bamboo strips are woven together using a large power loom that can make material with a width of up to 2.4 m. When both methods are combined, customers can choose from a range of approximately 40 types of sudare materials.
SHIKADA WOVEN can be ordered in rolls of up to 40 m or in custom sizes cut in 1 cm units from each roll. A special cutter in Japan will be used to cut pieces from the maximum dimensions possible for each manufacturing method (depending on the type) to the desired width and length.

We have a lineup of materials that have been certified under flame-resistance regulations in the EU and France. Those materials can be used as interior decoration materials in commercial facilities that require fire-resistance certification.

Screen style that fits your space
If you want to be able to open and close SHIKADA WOVEN, you can order the option of an added rolling screen function. You can choose from roll screens and roman shades that are operated with chains, roll-up styles that roll up from the bottom, and fixed types with bars on both ends of the fabric.

Traditional decoration style created by an artisan using traditional techniques = SHIKADA WOVEN + traditional decoration (option)
This decoration option is based on bamboo blinds (misu) that are used in shrines and temples in Japan.
