Sustainable Interior Design & Green Logistics: How Shikada Shitsurai Reduces CO2 Emissions with DHL GoGreen Plus

[Fusion of Tradition and Sustainability: Shikada Shitsurai’s Green Logistics 🌱]

Since our founding in the first year of Taisho (1912), we have inherited the traditional Japanese spirit of “Shitsurai” and delivered sustainable interior products crafted from natural materials like bamboo and rattan to clients around the world.

Starting this January, to further reduce our environmental footprint, we have fully adopted DHL’s “GoGreen Plus” to actively reduce (inset) CO2 emissions in our international transport and export logistics.

According to the mid-year report for the first half of 2026 (January–July) received from DHL, we have achieved the following concrete results:

  • GoGreen Plus Usage Rate: 100% (Applied to all export shipments using sustainable aviation fuels and more)

  • CO2 Emissions Reduction: Achieved a 36.5% reduction

  • We are steadily advancing the decarbonization of our entire supply chain while delivering eco-friendly interior materials to architectural projects across Europe (such as France and Italy), the United States, and worldwide.

As a company working with beautiful natural materials, we want to protect the environment not only through the quality of our products themselves, but also through the green delivery process that brings them to you. Shikada Shitsurai will continue to preserve traditional craftsmanship while challenging ourselves toward a sustainable future.

Architects and designers, let’s all maintain a good environment and leave a good future!
