We recently received a repair request from a valued customer in America who has been a long-time admirer of SHIKADA WOVEN’s products. The beloved bamboo screen they sent us showed signs of years of use, with some bamboo slats broken and what appeared to be paint adhered to the surface.

Upon seeing the condition of the screen, we were immediately driven by a strong desire to restore this cherished item to its former glory. Each SHIKADA WOVEN bamboo screen is crafted with care by the hands of Japanese artisans, imbued with their spirit and dedication. To reconnect this piece with its owner was a mission we embraced wholeheartedly.

The task fell to our seasoned artisans, who meticulously began the repair process. Broken bamboo slats were carefully removed, and the stubborn paint was patiently and diligently cleaned away. Working with natural bamboo requires years of experience and unwavering skill to navigate its delicate nature.

 

 

Due to the removal of the broken slats, the overall length of the screen was slightly reduced. However, our artisans skillfully rewove the bamboo, ensuring that the screen’s original character and aesthetic were preserved, breathing new life into the piece.
